“Acts opens your heart to the Holy Spirit!”  “These words from an ACTS retreatant stirred me more than anything I’d ever heard,” remarked Paula Brozek.   “For me, the retreat was every bit of this – and more!”  “It is uplifting,” “it can be life-changing,” and “it can bring a parish to life” are other reflections that from those who have made the retreat.

What is an ACTS retreat?

ACTS is a three-day/three-night Catholic lay retreat which begins on Thursday evening and ends the following Sunday at a Mass celebrated with the parish community.  Retreats for men, women and teens are given separately.  Talks and activities during the retreat focus on Adoration, Community, Theology and Service, from which the ACTS acronym is derived. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are the guides for the retreats, although non-Catholics are most welcome to attend.

Each retreat is conducted by a retreat “team” composed of 20-30 individuals who have attended prior ACTS retreats.  Chosen by the retreat Director, the team organizes the retreat, conducts the retreat talks and activities and ministers to the needs of the participants during the retreat weekend.  Those who have experienced the true love and presence of the Holy Spirit at an ACTS Retreat are eager to share this experience with others in the dioceses of Kansas.

What is the Purpose of an ACTS retreat?

An ACTS weekend is designed to help retreat participants enter into a new or deeper relationship with our Lord and fellow lay persons.  This is accomplished through Adoration and daily prayer, the call to Community as a member of the Body of Christ and Theology in encouraging the study of scripture and our Catholic Faith – all of which emphasize and encourage the virtue of Service to our Lord, our parishes and one another.

Confirmation Preparation for Adults PDF Print E-mail

Are you a baptized Catholic who comes to Mass, receives the Eucharist,

but has not yet received the sacrament of Confirmation?

We invite you to begin formation this fall!

The Church teaches that “by signing us with the gifts of the Spirit, confirmation makes us more completely the image of the Lord and fills us with the Holy Spirit, so that we may witness to him before all the world and work to bring the Body of Christ to its fullness as soon as possible” (RCIA xiv). As a sacrament of initiation Confirmation helps us to live our baptismal promises and give witness to the Gospel.  During this time of formation we will not only learn more about our Catholic faith, but the Church also invites us to put that faith into action.

Preparation for adults needing confirmation will be held on Monday evenings 6:30-8:00pm beginning September 15th.  Those preparing for Confirmation should be baptized Catholics who are receiving the Eucharist.  We invite you to complete the registration form and return it to the parish office by Monday, September 8th.

You can click here to register online.

You can click here to download the registration form and return it to the parish office.

You can pick up the form from the front desk at the parish office.
