Home and School Committee Meeting Minutes, April 24, 2012
Present: Cindy Jacobs, Kerry Walters, Mr. Chad Meitner; teachers and parents
Next meeting: April 24th, 2012; 7:00pm, SHCS Gym
Mr. Meitner started the meeting with a prayer.
MINUTES
Minutes from the January 20, 2012 meeting were read by Kerry Walters.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Treasurer’s report was read by Kerry Walters and the following was reported:
- Prior checking account balance: $56,432.05
- Current checking account balance: $95,444.75
- Additions since last home and school meeting totaled: $52,533.32
- Expenses since last home and school meeting: $13,520.62
Details of expenses were listed on ELMO.
COMMITTEES
COUGAR CLUB:

AUCTION:
$25 Gift Certificates were given to the co-chairs of the auction, Cindy Trombley and Amber Gier. Annual auction made $52,494.12 plus $14,500 for itemless item. Congratulations and good job!
PRINCIPAL’S REMARKS
Mr. Meitner reported on the following items:
- State Assesment Tests are completed. Had an increase of 2% in Math. Students all had great attitudes. Having a student appreciation party at the Alley on Wed. April 25. Students will be bused there.
- School Council decided on the fee for Cougar Club for next school year.
$50/student grades K-6, $75/student 7th and 8th or $125/family.
- Papa Murphy’s pizzas are in, and if you have some to pick up you can do so after the meeting in the kitchen.
- Gym Improvement Update: $14,500 raised at the auction should be enough to do all the wanted updates and repairs. New mats, new stage curtains, resurfacing gym floor, lighting and deep cleaning and painting.
- Plan to update girls bathroom this summer as we did the boys last year.
- Talking of moving the office to the Special Education room. This would increase accessibility from outside and with visitors. Also better to have more offices together.

May 14th Activities Banquet at the Social Hall at 5:30 pm

President Cindy Jacobs:
Thank you notes received from teachers.
Teacher and parent incentives for the Home and School meetings changing. Will be parent and teacher prizes for every Home and School meeting. Raffle tickets will be handed out to everyone in attendance. Parents can win 1month lunch tickets (will give out 2) and teachers can win $45 in cash (will give out 2)
Home and School will again sponsor the end of the year faculty party.
We are going to replace outdated and not working PA and phone system. Have a bid from United. Hope to start project this summer.
Announced that H/S will help teachers with any student incentive ideas or progams. Will be able to get teachers funds for this if they are interested.
Nominations for next years Vice President of Home and School. Amber Gier nominated for 2 year term. No one else nominated. Welcome Amber.
Vice President Kerry Walters:
As talked about last meeting, a vote on the 2nd grade Carnival NOT being a fundraiser was held. Debby Slattery started motion, seconded by Amber Gier. Voted on by all present. None opposed. Motion carries.
Carnival will still have a few available funds from Home and School but will not be a fundraiser. No major raffle or sales.
Next Home and School meeting TBD in September 2012.
Cindy Jacobs then asked if there were any questions and reiterated that all the H/S minutes and treasurer’s reports could be found on the school website.
