Getting Into the Routine PDF Print E-mail

Fifth grade is gradually working our way into the normal routine.  During the first couple of weeks of school, students learned and practiced classroom procedures and expectations.  We also took our beginning of year pretests in reading, math, and religion.  The results of these school-wide tests help teachers determine which areas are most in need of growth so that we can plan instruction according to student needs.

We are now ready to begin fully working on our regular curriculum.  In religion, we are learning about being disciples of Jesus.  In language arts, we are working on vocabulary, character, plot, and setting.  Our first math unit covers number theory.  Science starts with a study of the scientific method, scientific tools, and laboratory safety.  And in social studies, we are learning about map skills.  Students write their assignments for the day in their planners each morning.  Check there for specific information about current material.

This calendar shows classroom and school events and activities.
