Fall has arrived! This means all things apple, leaves, pumpkin, and fun in first grade! This month, first graders will continue to understand how to put letter sounds together to make and read words, build complete sentences, understand text structure, hear lots of stories, practice addition and subtraction math facts, fall more in love with Christ and His Church, and so much more!
Some highlights of this month include Fire Safety Week with a visit from firefighters, our class field trip to Pumpkin Paradise in Sublette, conferences, and our fall party!
This month is a great time to review fire safety as a family at home. It is important to always have a plan in case there ever is an emergency. We will go over this at school, but you can never be too cautious!
A permission slip has been sent home and will need to be returned to school with a parent/guardian signature along with $6 in order for your student to go on the field trip Friday, October 13th. Each student will also need to bring a sack lunch for the day of the field trip. Parents who have completed Protecting God's Children and welcome to join in on the fun! We will leave after mass and return before the school day ends. This will be a very fun day!
Keep reading at home with your child, it not only helps with bonding but will increase your child's desire to learn how to read and enjoy it! To help give your child extra motivation we have started the Book It! program. A calendar has been sent home with your child to fill out each night of the month. Please read with your child or have them read for 20 minutes each night. Once completed each night, let your child color in the cat for the day. The calendar will need to be returned to school at the end of the month with a signature and your child can earn a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut!
