As another month passes by, we have been busy in the computer lab. The kids participated in a math contest put on by Southwest Plains Regional Service Center. It was the southwestern part of the state that we competed against. The program is titled Sumdog and has different games to make math fun. The kids seem to enjoy it when get to log into the program. We as a school were one of the daily prize winners having answered the most questions correctly on that given day (average across all competing students). We also had three of our students make it into the top ten answering the most questions overall. These students are Alejandro Ultreras, David Rojas, and Omar Ruiz. Congradulations Guys! There will be another contest coming up Dec. 5 through Dec. 15 with Sumdog and this will be state wide. I have registared the school for this and look forward in seeing how we do against students throughout the state of Kansas. The kids can also get on to Sumdog and practice at home. They have their username and password taped inside their agendas.
We will have our 2nd Blue Jeans day Monday, October 31. Don't forget to send a canned good to school with your student so they may wear bluejeans that day. Last month we collected 7 boxes of food for the Manna House. Wow! When we delievered the food, our timing couldn't have been better. Their shelves were almost bare. Watching the ladys unpack and restock the shelves was like watching a small child opening packages at Christmas. We hope to make this a monthly activity and the students are making an impact to the community.
In class we have been working with Reading Eggs in K-2nd, Xtra Math for 1st - 8th, Sumdog, Typing Tutor for 3rd - 8th, Microsoft Office for 6th - 8th, and have done a few project and papers. With the 2nd nine weeks we will start doing more with Study Island and some practice test for the state assesments that will be here in Febuary.

Once again Sacred Heart will be putting together a yearbook.
The 8th grade has a contest in designing the yearbook cover. If there is room the drawings that don't make it as the cover will be used within the yearbook. We have a very talented group of students, so I'm looking forward to an awesome cover design and yearbook.
I hope to have students helping me gather pictures this year since it takes so many to put together the yearbook. If you have any pictures from the different school events that could possibly be used this year please send them to me at
