Title I, for the second semester has been going very well. I have worked with many students and feel that most are working at their very best potential. There is still much work that needs to be conquered before the state assessments. Some of the items that could be reviewed at home are: Reading a short story and then retelling that story. It is also helpful to review prefixes and suffixes. Whenever one is encountered in a passage, discuss the meaning of the word and the prefix or suffix. This will help students become aware of different meanings of words. Also practice using context to get the meaning of words. This is a good practice for all to use.
In Math some of the items that could be reviewed at home are: telling time using an analogue clock, measuring time, counting money, addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisiion facts, fact famiies, names of shapes and the formulas for finding area and perimeter, and mean, median, mode, and range.
If help is needed in finding things to study these items, please stop by the Title I Resource room on the second floor and speak with me. I will help in any way that I can.
