I plan on starting our recorder unit for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders on October 31. The school has recorders that students can borrow for this unit, however they are welcome to bring their own. If students do bring their own please be sure it is a good quality recorder. Feel free to email me if you are unsure.
Students can take the borrowed recorders home to practice during this unit, but it must come back to school each day. Please take excellent care of the recorder and not let siblings or pets get a hold of it. The recorder can be cleaned with dish soap and water if necessary. The recorder is sensitive to temperature changes and should not be left in the car or in other areas of extreme heat or cold.
I hope you enjoy this unit as much as the students and it is not too painful for your ears! :-)
The Christmas program is just around the corner and the kids have been working hard! We are still polishing our songs and will be taking pictures for the Christmas story slide show during class soon. Narration is under way and their parts will be coming home soon to practice.
Here are the details:
When: Tuesday, December 5. Matinee at 2:30 and evening performance at 7:00. Students need to be in their classrooms at 6:30 that evening.
Where: Sacred Heart Cathedral Catholic school gym.
Who: Pre K - 2nd grade
Dress: NICE dress clothes. Follow the school handbook for guidelines. No jeans or t-shirts please.
Are you looking for a way to log more parent volunteer hours? Are you crafty or handy? I have a project for you!
I would love to replace the risers in the music room with bucket seats. They are safer, allow for various seating arrangements, more comfortable (ask your child how he/she likes sitting on the risers), take up less room than chairs AND we can use them for bucket drumming! I need a minimum of 20 to accommodate my largest class this year. Please contact me if you are interested and we can work out the details.
Saturday, November 4 - KMEA middle school honor festival - Middle School band and choir may or may not participate. More information to come.
