Helps families make the important decisions regarding adoption, provides home studies for adoptive and foster parents and provides counseling to teens with unexpected pregnancies in addition to helping families with a special needs child find respite care. A growing concern for young parents who are struggling with their role as parents prompted enhancement of our teen pregnancy program to encourage and provide practical assistance for parenting teens. Our goal with The Teens Moms program is to provide the health of the teen mother and her infant, reduce child abuse potential, reduce parenting stress, support positive decision making, increase school completion, reduce the incidence of low birth weight babies, reduce smoking and substance abuse during pregnancy and support adolescent fathers. Teen Moms is a ministry through Catholic Social Services to demonstrate the love of Jesus Christ to teenage mothers and their children. They meet at Catholic Social Service on Tuesday evenings. Catholic Social Services has a "store" that the young mothers can earn items for participation in the program, such as grocery certificates, diapers, books, toys, etc. Catholic Social Services will accept donations for support of the program. They are also looking for loving Christians to provide meals (for up to 10 people) for their Tuesday gatherings. To help this ministry, please contact Amy Falcon at 620-227-1590.

Established by Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish and began to offer short term housing in August of 1993. They provide shelter for singles, couples, and families. Housing is determined by analyzing each case and the need of the person/family. Many of the guests are persons in search of work, indigent transients, and migrant families. Manna House is always in need of cash and contributions for utilities and upkeep of the house. Food costs are kept low because so much food is donated. They also accept other donated items to be given away to those in need.
